These cute little guys won't last long here before being picked up by new loving owners! Mangrove monitors like most monitors, are not recommended for beginners. In the wild, they are opportunistic eaters feeding on the eggs of reptiles and birds, mollusks, rodents, insects, crabs, smaller lizards, fish, and carrion. They are even capable of catching and eating fish! This means that in captivity they require a varied diet consisting of insects and grocery store bought meats and seafood. They also require a lot of space for their high activity levels and a large body of water for them to swim in.
