Leucistic Albino Axolotl
What a crazy phenomenon! This is our very first time ever having leucistic albino axolotls. These funny looking guys have albino eyes that blends into their skin colour! As they grow larger, they will retain most of the white coloration in the skin and typically not get very pink while still maintaining vibrant pink fluffy gills. They lack coloration in their freckles so will grow to have a very smooth polished look. As the eyes grow larger, they remain white but the shape and outlines of the eyes will become more noticeable. We pulled a random stock photo of a larger one off the Internet to show you what to expect. Please note that this is not our photo.
A note about their body colours - It was very hard to get accurate photos due to water reflection. We do not sell many aquatic animals so we do not have the right equipment for the photos and we did our best. These photos do not do them justice, they are way cuter in person! The yellows on their face is a reflection, there is no yellow on them in person. The dark spots in the bellies is the food that they are still digesting. Each time they eat their bellies get dark and as they digest they get lighter again because they are semi translucent. These ones all have variations of slight freckling on their faces and will become more vibrant and polished as they grow larger.
All axolotls are doing very well with fluffy gills and eating both blood worms and pellets. They will also take cut up night crawlers. Each measure about 3" currently.
Please take care to use only reverse osmosis or distilled water as this species is incredible sensitive to chemicals in the water. This species must also be kept in cold water, no more than 70F. Individual photos will not be provided under any circumstances for this species.
