Porcellio laevis
The laevis milkback variation is a beautiful and sought after isopod morph known for its bold contrast. Typically featuring a light, creamy stripe running down the back against a darker gray or brown body, resembling a "milk spill" effect. This striking pattern draws attention in bioactive enclosures and appeals to collectors looking for something visually unique. Larger and smoother than many other species, P. laevis are easy to handle, fast breeders, and active foragers, making Milkbacks both an attractive display morph and a reliable clean up crew in warm, humid environments.
These invertebrates serve several important functions in any vivarium acting as tank janitors to help break down dead plant matter and uneaten foods. They also provide the vivarium inhabitants with an extra in-house snack and aid in nutrient cycling.
Each culture has approximately 15-20 mixed size isopods included, with food, and are considered a large sized isopod.
